X-Men draft hopefuls participate in CFL combine events

Eight members of the AUS champion StFX X-Men football team recently participated in the CFL regional combine in Montreal on March 9th. Receiver Donald Tabor was one of four athletes selected from the regional combine to attend the CFL national combine in Toronto on March 11th. His teammate, linebacker Daniel Tshiamala also attended the national combine.

UBC Thunderbirds win Uteck Bowl with 36-9 victory over StFX X-Men

A Xaverian is heading to the Vanier Cup, but he is a member of the UBC Thunderbirds. Head coach Blake Nill, a graduate of StFX who started his stellar career on the sidelines with the X-Men in 1992, and his Canada West champions defeated StFX 36-9 in the Uteck Bowl Saturday evening at Oland Stadium in Antigonish.

Another chapter in the rich history of StFX athletics will be written this weekend. On Saturday, the X-Men football team will host the UBC Thunderbirds in the CIS Uteck Bowl, with the winner of the match-up earning a spot in the Vanier Cup.

In dramatic fashion, the StFX X-Men secured their first conference football championship in almost two decades with a come-from-behind 14-12 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday afternoon in the AUS Subway Loney Bowl at MacAulay Field.

Powered by an MVP-type performance by running back Ashton Dickson (Ottawa, ON) and another rock-solid effort from the defense, the StFX X-Men punched their ticket to the 2015 AUS Subway Loney Bowl with a 26-4 win over the visiting Acadia Axemen in semi-final action Saturday afternoon at Oland Stadium.
