X-Women run to U SPORTS national silver medal at championship in Sherbrooke
Sherbrooke, QC – The STFX X-Women are the 2025 U SPORTS national silver medalists.
The X-Women ran to the impressive second place finish amongst 32 teams in the 8k national race on the campus of Sherbrooke University.
The result marked the best ever finish on the national scene for the X-Women, who previously earned the bronze medal two years ago at the 2023 championship and also in 2007.
Caroline Ash earned second team All-Canadian status with her 8th place finish, the first X runner to cross the finish line with a time of 28:47. Eileen Benoit was 16th with a 29:05 result and Caden Lee rounded out the top 20 finishes in 20th position at 29:19.
Poppy Moon (29:42) came in 33rd, Feron Wallace (30:11) was 52nd, while Hannah McIntyre (30:45) and Poppy Thomson (31:24) came in 85th and 110th.
There were 174 racers competing in the championship that saw the Victoria Vikes run to the championship banner with 99 points in the first place spot. The X-Women garnered 117 points, with UBC earning the bronze medals with 138 points.
Vikes runner Madelyn Eybergen was the individual first place finisher with a time of 27:10. Lauren McNeil from UBCO was second at 27:24 and Guelph's Alexandra McDougall was third at 28:06.
