X-Women Cross Country win 2025 AUS championship banner
The STFX X-Women are the 2025 AUS women's cross country champions, running to their fifth consecutive AUS title
Wolfville, NS – The STFX X-Women Cross Country team are the 2025 AUS champions. The X-Women ran to their fifth consecutive AUS title at Hennigar Farm Saturday afternoon at the 8km championship meet hosted by Acadia.
The win was their 13th championship banner in team history.
STFX placed four runners in the top 10, including AUS first team all-stars Caroline Ash in second, Poppy Moon in third, Eileen Benoit in fourth and Caden Lee in seventh.
Ash claimed the individual silver medal with her time of 28:46 and Moon ran to a 28:54 showing for the bronze. The race winner and gold medalist was Frances MacDonald from Saint Mary's who ran 28:44.
Benoit was not far off the top three pace with her time of 28:55 and Lee clocked in at 29:24. Rounding out the finishes for the X-Women amongst the field of 52 competitors was Feron Wallace (29:44) in 11th, giving her AUS second team all-star status. Wallace was also named to the AUS all-rookie team as one of the the three top rookies in the conference.
Poppy Thomson (30:52) came in 22nd overall for the X-Women and Rebecca Haney (32:10) was 31st.
Their team score of 27 points was well ahead of second place UNB (62) and third place Dalhousie (67).
STFX head coach Eric Gillis was honored as the AUS Women's Coach of the Year, marking the fifth consecutive year he has been honored as the conference's top coach.
The X-Women will now move on to represent the AUS conference at the U SPORTS Championship being held in Sherbrooke, QC on November 8th.
