ANTIGONISH- The UNB REDS women's soccer team pulled out a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon against the STFX X-Women at STFX Stadium, scoring in the dying minutes of the game to seal the win.
The REDS were all over the home side in the first half, controlling possession and keeping the ball on a string. Lauren Clark put the REDS on the board in the 36th minute, jumping on a loose ball close to the X net and knocking it home.
The X-Women came out with some jump in the second half and worked to close the gap. With five minutes to go in regulation, STFX's Bryn Canning hit a beauty of a free kick, drawing the game even.
The REDS weren't to be denied the win though, and Aurora Hughes-Goyette headed home a cross into the top corner for the game winner.
STFX is back on home turf next Friday, when they host the UPEI Panthers at 5 p.m.
