X-Men relay teams take home pair of silver medals

Moncton, NB – The STFX X-Men took home three medals at the AUS championship hosted at the Universite de Moncton this past Friday and Saturday.

The medal tally included one individual bronze medal, along with silver medals for both the 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams.

With 35 points, the X-Men came fifth overall in the team standings. The AUS champions were Dalhousie (136), followed by UNB (73), Saint Mary's (59) and Moncton (96).

Jack O'Connell was the bronze medalist in the 3000m race, finishing with a time 8:43.89. Former X-Men runner Jacob Benoit, now competing with Dalhousie, was the race winner.

The X-Men 4x800m relay team consisting of Liam Patterson, Liam McCullagh, Jack Wierzbicki and Jack O'Connell had the second fastest time of 8:02.74 to take home the silver medal in that event.

In the 4x400m relay, the X-Men's time of 3:35.24 was the second best in the field as Tyler Baker, Jack O'Connell, Liam McCullagh and Jack Wierzbicki took home silver medals in that one.
