X-Women bring home six AUS track medals

Moncton, NB – The STFX X-Women took home six medals at the AUS championship hosted at the Universite de Moncton this past Friday and Saturday.

The medal tally included five individual medals including three silver and two bronze, along with a silver medal for the 4x800m relay team.

With 45 points, the X-Women came fourth overall in the team standings. The AUS champions were Dalhousie (167), followed by UNB (77) and Memorial (50).

Caroline Ash was a double medalist for X as she picked up the silver medal in the 1000m race on Friday, finishing with a time of 2:54.46, then followed up with another silver on Saturday in 1500m with a 4:40.29 result.

In the 3000m, STFX boasted two medalists as Allie Sandluck earned silver with a 9:42.22 result and teammate Eileen Benoit claimed bronze at 9:50.04. Sandluck's time also qualified her for the U SPORTS national championship being held March 7-9 at the University of Manitoba.

Brynn Herbert earned the bronze medal in the 600m race as she clocked in with a time of 1:37.57.

The X-Women 4x800m relay team consisting of Caden Lee, Hannah McIntyre, Brynn Hebert and Caroline Ash had the second fastest time of 9:20.62 to take home the silver medal in that event.
