Halifax, NS – The X-Men fell 6-3 to the Dalhousie Tigers on Friday night at the Halifax Forum.
Despite STFX getting out to an early 2-0 first period lead, the Tigers fought their way back and held on for the win, with six different players hitting the scoresheet.
Ryan McGuire opened the scoring in the game, notching a goal for X only 1:02 into the game.
Matt Cato made it a two-goal lead only a minute later.
After a Tigers timeout the home team settled in and then rattled off a pair of goals from Carter Murchison and Colin MacDougall to even things up after 20 minutes.
The Tigers then took the lead in the second period with markers from Barrett Kirwin and Brody Fournier.
The X-Men closed the gap with a power play goal from defenseman Charlie Callaghan midway through the period.
The Tigers scored their own power play marker at 14:45 from Luke Johnston to regain the two-goal cushion and were up 5-3 after two periods.
Despite outshooting the Tigers 10-7 in the final period, the X-Men could not solve Dalhousie netminder Carter Richardson who held off the final surge and had 28 saves on the night for the Tigers win.
Jonah Jelley rounded out the scoring for Dalhousie with the lone goal of the third period.
Patrick Leaver was tagged with the loss in the STFX net and had 25 saves on the night.
The X-Men have a quick turnaround as they are back in action on home ice Saturday night when they host Moncton at 7:00 pm.
