Bio
A product of Antigonish, Ian Bilek shone as one of the most gifted scorers in X-Men Soccer history during a golden era for the program. Playing under his father - and fellow Hall of Fame member - Coach Lou Bilek, Ian was a driving force in back-to-back AUAA championships in 1993 and 1994, which earned the X-Men berths at the national tournament.
Named an AUS all-star in 1995 and a CIAU All-Canadian, Bilek also excelled academically as a CIAU Academic All-Canadian. In a triumphant return in 1997, he led the AUAA in scoring, was named conference MVP, earned CIAU first-team All-Canadian honours, and was a CIAU tournament all-star while leading StFX back to the national stage. Twice named X-Men team most valuable player, he remains the program’s all-time leader in goals scored at the national tournament.
A Bachelor of Physical Education graduate, Bilek has gone on to a successful career as a lawyer in Halifax while remaining a passionate supporter of StFX Soccer through the Back and Blue Project.
