STFX sweeps team and individual titles at UNB meet
STFX runners claimed the top spots in the opening events on the 2025 AUS Cross Country schedule, Saturday afternoon in Fredericton
FREDERICTON, NB - Runners from STFX claimed the top spots in the opening events on the 2025 Atlantic University Sport Cross Country schedule, Saturday afternoon in Fredericton.
Eileen Benoit won the women's eight-kilometre race, covering the challenging Odell Park course in 30:04, while her teammate Brett King won the men's 8K event in 25:35.
Benoit led an X-Women sweep of the top four spots in the women's race. Also placing in the top 10 were the following White and Blue runners:
2nd: Poppy Moon 30.13
3rd: Caden Lee 30:19
4th: Caroline Ash 30:20
8th: Hannah McIntyre 30:39
10th: Sarah Watson 30:54
UPEI's Luc Doucette ran second in the men's race, followed by three more X-Men. STFX placed six runners in the top 10 including:
3rd: Griffin Gamble 25:53
4th: Luke MacDonald 26:07
5th: Liam Patterson 26:18
8th: Conlan MacKenzie 26:38
9th: Mathew Lawton 26:50
In the women's team competition, STFX finished first with 18 points, ahead of Dalhousie (57), UPEI (71), UNB (92) and Acadia (136).
The X-Men finished atop the men's team standings too, tallying 21 points on the day. Rounding out the team placings were Dalhousie (54), UPEI (73), Saint Mary's (118), Moncton (132) and UNB (175).
The next race on the AUS schedule is the Dalhousie Invitational, in Halifax, on September 20th. The women's race begins at 12:00pm and the men run at 1:00pm.
