Canning leads X-Women to first place finish
STFX’s Mairin Canning took top spot in the 8k Moncton Cross Country Classic race held Saturday at the Moncton campus
Moncton, NB - STFX's Mairin Canning took top spot in the 8k Moncton Cross Country Classic race held Saturday at the Moncton campus.
Canning covered the course of four laps in a time of 29:59, and was followed by her X-Women teammate Caroline Ash in second place at 30:00. Sophie Black of the Université de Moncton was third in 30:01. The three racers followed each other throughout the race and set the pace.
The X-Women claimed the first place team placing with five runners in the top 10, garnering 22 points. The Dalhousie Tigers had three runners in the top 10 in second place with 45 points and Memorial took third spot with 102.
STFX's Allie Sandluck was fourth with a time of 30.04. Caden Lee (30:27) and Poppy Moon (30.31) came seventh and eighth for the X-Women amongst the field of 60 competitors.

The race marked the final one of the regular season prior to the AUS Championship, scheduled for Saturday, October 26th in St. John's, Nfld.
