Runners Hardy & McGuire named Boston Pizza Athletes of the Week

X-Men cross country runner Connor McGuire was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 16, 2012. Connor, a fourth year Science student from Summerside, PEI helped lead the X-Men to victory at the opening AUS meet in Moncton this past Saturday. Connor was the overall race winner, clocking in at 24:50 in the 10k event. He and his teammates earned 20 points to take the first place team showing, well ahead of second place Dalhousie (59). Connor is the defending AUS individual champion and is a two-time AUS all-star.

X-Women cross country runner Melissa Hardy was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 16, 2012. Melissa, a fourth year Human Nutrition student in her second year eligibility, from Deer Lake, Nfld helped lead the X-Women team to a first place showing at the opening AUS meet of the season this past Saturday in Moncton. Melissa was the top StFX finisher in the race, placing second overall as she ran the 5k course in a time of 17:51. Melissa and her teammates took the top spot with 25 points, well ahead of second place Dalhousie (48). A captain with the X-Women this year, Melissa was a 2011 AUS all-star.
