X-Women defeat Capers in AUS volleyball action
The StFX X-Women improved to a 2-3 record after defeating the Cape Breton University Capers 3-1 (25-16, 14-25, 25-18 and 25-20) in AUS volleyball action Friday evening in Sydney, N.S.
Fifth-year senior Catherine Thornton led the blue and white with 18.5 points, including 18 kills and 11 digs.
First-year X-Woman Aneta Nejmanova chipped in seven kills and five digs as part of a 13.5- point effort.
Sadie Woodworth contributed 26 assists and eight digs, while Antigonish native Keirsten Wilson added six kills and eight digs.
The X-Women return to action Saturday, Nov. 10 when they host the rival Saint Mary’s Huskies at Oland Centre, beginning at 7 p.m., in their home opener.
The blue and white will host the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
