X-Women volleyball wraps up pre-season play
The X-Women volleyball team played three exhibition games over the weekend against AUS opponents and wound up 1-2.
On Saturday afternoon at the StFX Oland Centre, the X-Women handled the Acadia Axewomen in three straight sets, winning 3-0. Set scores were 25-22, 25-18, 25-12.
Sunday afternoon the blue and white travelled to Moncton where they played a pair of games there against both Moncton and UNB.
In the first game against Moncton, the Aigles Bleues came away with a 3-1 win. They won the first set 25-15 then the X-Women tied the match with a 25-15 second set victory. The host Moncton squad then won the next two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-16.
In their second match of the day, the X-Women went to five sets with the UNB Varsity Reds and came out on the short end of a 3-2 game. The Varsity Reds opened with a 26-24 first set win, then StFX won the second set 25-14. The teams again traded set victories as UNB took home the third set 25-20 and StFX the fourth at 25-18. The deciding game went to the V-Reds at 15-11.
Individual player statistics were unavailable for all three matches.
The X-Women close out pre-season exhibition play with a 3-4 record and will now focus their attention on the upcoming AUS-RSEQ interlock tournament to kick off regular season play. The tournament is slated for October 26-28 in Halifax as games will be hosted at both Saint Mary’s and Dalhousie. The X-Women will face McGill, Sherbrooke, Laval and Montreal over the course of the three-day event.
