Huskies beat volleyball X-Women in Halifax
The X-Women volleyball team faced a tough Saint Mary’s squad in Halifax Saturday night and came home with a 3-1 defeat.
Saint Mary’s won the opening set 25-18 and took a close second set victory by a 25-23 score. The X-Women battled back to win the third set 25-22, then the home team Huskies closed out the match with a 25-22 fourth set win.
Shelby Michaels led the Huskies with 16 kills while Kerri Smit had 14.
For the X-Women, Katherine Ryan posted 12 kills and 14 digs and Jessica Roberts had 10 kills, 2 service aces and 2 blocks. Catherine Thornton contributed with 6 kills and 12 digs while Keirsten Wilson had 8 kills, 6 digs and 3 blocks. Libero Maria Dunphy had 14 digs in the game.
The X-Women tallied 8 total team blocks to the Huskies 12.
StFX currently holds a 4-2 record in AUS league play to date and sit alone in third place. The Huskies improve to 5-0 atop the conference standings along with Dalhousie.
Next on the schedule for the X-Women is a single game next weekend in Sydney, NS as they will play the Cape Breton Capers (3-1) on Saturday, November 19th.
