X-Women sweep Sea-Hawks in AUS volleyball action

The StFX X-Women volleyball team opened its home season with a pair of wins over the visiting Memorial SeaHawks this weekend.
Sunday afternoon, the blue and white notched a 3-1 win (25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 25-17) at Oland Centre.
Player of the Game Catherine Thornton had 17 points, including 15 kills and 12 digs for the X-Women, while freshman Kelsey Wolfenden added 10 kills and 13 digs in recording 11 points. Setter Heather Isenor contributed 35 assists and 11 digs. The X-Women blocked five shots.
For the SeaHawks, Sam March contributed 11.5 points, including 10 kills and 15 digs, with Beth Forsey chipping in 26 assists and 11 digs. The SeaHawks recorded six blocks.
Saturday evening, the X-Women scored a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-23, 25-19) over the SeaHawks.
Thornton recorded 10 kills and 12 digs as part of a 10-point effort, while Player of the Game Wolfenden and Katherine Ryan tallied nine points apiece. Wolfenden had nine kills and nine digs, while Ryan added nine kills and seven digs. Isenor contributed 29 assists and eight digs.
March recorded 12 kills and five digs for the SeaHawks, while Forsey added 24 sets and five digs.
With the wins, the X-Women improve to 4-1, while the SeaHawks drop to 1-4.
StFX returns to action Saturday, Nov. 12 when they face the Saint Mary’s Huskies in Halifax.
