X-Women volleyball 2-2 at Dalhousie Invitational

The StFX X-Women volleyball team posted a 2-2 record at the Dalhousie Scotiabank Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Halifax this weekend. The exhibition matches marked the first game action for the 2011-12 X-Women.
Senior Catherine Thornton earned a tournament all-star berth for the blue and white.
Sunday, the X-Women wrapped up the tournament with a win over the host Dalhousie Tigers. They lost the first set 25-23, but came back to win the match 25-14, 27-25, 25-17. Freshman Erin Sigalet was named the player of the game for the X-Women.
The X-Women dropped a pair of matches Saturday, including a 3-1 loss (19-25, 19-25, 25-16, 24-26) to the Memorial Sea-Hawks. Senior Katherine Ryan earned player of the game for X. Earlier in the day, the X-Women lost to the Saint Mary’s Huskies 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-23), with freshman Kelsey Wolfenden receiving player of the game honours.
Friday evening, StFX opened the tournament with a 3-1 win (25-18, 25-18, 19-25, 25-19) over the Acadia Axewomen.
The X-Women return to action Friday, Oct. 14 when they participate in the UNB Invitational Tournament in Fredericton.
