Getting to Know...Catherine Thornton

X-Women volleyball athlete Catherine Thornton is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Catherine recently completed her fourth year eligibility with the X-Women and is an Education student from Kobe, Japan.

What brought you to StFX?
The combination of the chance to play volleyball, learn Gaelic and major in Celtic Studies� random I know, but true.

What has been your best moment in a StFX uniform so far?
Our team coming in first in the league in 2009-10 and making it to the AUS championship game.

One thing I cannot live without is�?
Sticky Rice

If I could have super-hero powers I would�?
Fly

My biggest pet peeve is�?
Lack of effort

My dream vacation destination is�?
Oooh, toughie. There are so many gorgeous and interesting places I'd like to go but I'd love to go back to New Zealand�of everywhere I've gone it was the most beautiful.

My dream job is�?
Am I allowed to have three? Pro-athlete (any kind really! Ha ha, but volleyball would be amazing), a transcriber (I'd learn a bunch of languages and then sit around transcribing old manuscripts), or a Gaelic teacher (in Scotland ideally!!!)

Tell us one thing that fans may not know about you?
I love to bake�usually while listening and singing along to Disney songs
