X-Women volleyball drop weekend matches

The StFX X-Women volleyball team dropped a pair of weekend matches at home in AUS regular season play.
Sunday afternoon, the Cape Breton University Capers defeated the X-Women in straight sets (25-16, 25-23, 25-14) at Oland Centre.
Vanessa St. Georges led the winners with 10 kills, while Kristen Ryan and Erica Dowling contributed 17 and 10 digs, respectively. Alison Arbou chipped in 31 assists.
For the blue and white, Catherine Thornton recorded 12 kills and seven digs, while Katherine Ryan added 10 kills and six digs. Heather Isenor contributed 26 assists and seven digs, while Maria Dunphy chipped in 16 digs for the X-Women.
Saturday evening, the X-Women dropped a 3-0 decision (25-23, 25-16, 25-20) to the Dalhousie Tigers.
Isenor had 18 assists and seven digs for X, while Dunphy added 17 digs. Ryan scored 12 kills and five digs, while Thornton collected nine kills and seven digs.
For the Tigers, Louise Facca recorded 16 kills, while Raessa Lalani and Lauren Smith contributed 17 and 14 digs, respectively.
With the losses, the X-Women drop to 5-6 with 10 points. They are tied for fourth place in the conference with the Memorial University SeaHawks.
StFX returns to action Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. when they host the Saint Mary’s Huskies at Oland Centre.
