X-Women Volleyball capture 2 wins at Quebec Interlock Competition
The X-Women traveled to Laval University in Quebec City on Friday to participate in their annual interlock competition with the Quebec Conference.
In their first match of the event, the Blue and White met the CIS #1 ranked Laval Rouge et Or and were defeated 3- 0(18-25, 19-25,20-25). Katherine Ryan led the way for the X-women collecting 12 kills, 3 blocks and 12 digs. Michaela Vorlova chipped in with 10 kills,15 digs and an ace while freshman Jessica Roberts added 6 blocks and 4 kills.
Saturday would be an exciting day for the X-Women as they captured their first ever wins against the Quebec Conference after defeating McGill 3 - 0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-18) and the University of Sherbrooke 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 28-26).
Against McGill, Catherine Thornton led the way scoring 15 points (13 kills, 1 ace,1 block), Michaela Vorlova added 13.5 points (8 kills, 4 aces, 1.5 blocks) while Heather Isenor was solid quarterbacking the offense collecting 30 assists. Mary Dunphy solidified the serve receive passing a very impressive 2.58/3.
Rookie Jessica Roberts lead the way in the Blue & White's defeat of Sherbrooke collecting 13 points (7 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks). Catherine Thornton and Michaela Vorlova added 10 and 12.5 points respectively. Rookie setter Melissa Landry was solid quarterbacking the offense while Katherine Ryan and Jessica Nichols were outstanding defensively and offensively.
Sunday saw the X-Women match up against CIS#4 University of Montreal who defeated the blue & white 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-11, 25-21) . Catherine Thornton collected 12.5 points, Jessica Roberts had 10 and Katherine Ryan added 9 points and 15 digs. Maria Dunphy and Heather Isenor added 15 digs a piece.
X-Women take the court at home this Saturday Nov 6 at 2pm against Dalhousie Tigers.
