Getting to Know...Heather Isenor

X-Women volleyball setter Heather Isenor is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Heather recently completed her third year with the X-Women and is a Human Kinetics student from Antigonish, NS.

What brought you to StFX?
Being from Antigonish, it was always on the top of my list. My mother and sister both graduated from StFX, so I heard nothing but good things. I wanted to stay in Nova Scotia and be close to home, but I think my biggest reason was Michelle. I always wanted to play volleyball at a university level and Michelle showed the most interest in me. I've had Michelle as a coach before and knew how great she was, so my final deciding factor was that I wanted to play for Michelle.

What has been your best moment in a StFX uniform so far?
In my second year, the whole year was amazing. We started out losing most of our games, but pulled it together after Christmas to win almost every game and finish first in the league in the regular season. It was this season that I will never forget blocking a 6'3 middle.

What are you most looking forward to this season?
I look forward to winning an AUS championship in my last year.

Who has been the most influential person in your life (and why)?
My mom has been the most influential. She supports me in everything I do including academic and athletics. She would put me in any sport I wanted including hockey, soccer, highland dancing, tae kwon do, and volleyball. She also helped me with my decision to play volleyball competitively. She comes to every game whether it's in Halifax, Newfoundland, or Quebec, and she tells me I play great even if it's my worst game of my career.

One thing I cannot live without is…?
A morning coffee

My dream vacation destination is…
 Anywhere in Europe

I am a vegetarian
