X-Women volleyball lose close match in home opener

The StFX women’s volleyball team lost a heart breaker Thursday night as they opened their season at home versus the Saint Mary’s Huskies. The blue and white took a 2-0 lead in the match before dropping the final three sets to give SMU the win (21-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-9). 

Leading the way for the X-Women were second year players Heather Isenor (55 assists, 3 aces, 8 digs and 3 block assists) and Catherine Thornton (21 kills, 2 aces and 14 digs). 

The X-Women hit the court again next Saturday, Nov. 14 when they face rival Cape Breton at 6:00pm in their annual “Serve Up A Cure Match”, where all proceeds from the match will be donated for breast cancer research.
