X-Women Volleyball playoff-bound!
X-Women volleyball took a tight 3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-23) win over the Dalhousie Tigers Friday night at the Dalplex in Halifax to grab fifth place in the regular season standings and the final playoff spot in next weekend's AUS Volleyball Championship.
Leading the way for the blue & white were first year Player of the Game Katherine Ryan who collected 22 kills, and 5th year left side Laura Machowsi, who picked up 8 kills, a couple of aces and was solid defensively. Heather Isenor stabilized the offense, while middle blocker Allison Duggan picked up a couple of key blocks and Layla Calvi finished with 5 kills on 6 sets. Megan Pothier collected 16 digs and Steph Bullock, who was battling illness, chipped in with 4 kills.
The X-Women finish the regular season with an 8-12 record in fifth spot and will face Cape Breton University on Friday, Feb. 13 at 8:00 pm in a quarter final match at the AUS championship being hosted at Acadia University in Wolfville. The host and sixth seed Axewomen will meet Saint Mary's in the other quarterfinal game. Moncton and UNB received byes into the semi-finals.
