X-Women Volleyball fall to SMU
The X-Women volleyball team fell 3-0 to the Saint Mary’s Huskies Sunday afternoon at the StFX Oland Centre.
They lost a close first set by a 25-23 margin and the Huskies went on to win 25-16 in both the second and third sets in a match that was postponed a day due to inclement weather.
Katherine Ryan continued her consistent play for X, earning 10 points for the X-Women (10 kills, 7 digs, 1 block) in the losing effort. Megan McDonald had 9 points (8 kills, 1 ace, 1 dig, 1 block) and Laura Machowski scored 7 points (6 kills, 1 ace, 4 digs, 1 block).
Last year’s AUS Rookie of the Year Kerri Smit led the Huskies attack with 20 points (16 kills, 4 aces, 10 digs) and Alison Beaver added 10 points (8 kills, 6 digs).
The X-Women drop to 2-8 and currently sit in 7th place in the AUS standings. They will wrap up this weekend for the holiday break with a single match at\r\n
