Feb 4, 2008 - The second place Memorial Seahawks visited the StFX Oland Centre this weekend for a pair of matches against the X-Women and returned back to the Rock with two wins. Saturday evening, the X-Women played well but fell 3-1 to the Seahawks with set scores of 19-25, 25-19, 15-25 and 23-25. Catherine Thornton picked up her strong play from last weekend with 19 kills in the match and 14 digs, while Allsion Duggan contributed 8 kills and 11 digs. Myla Boudreau had 15 digs for the X-Women and Laura Machowski had 10. Sarah Chalker had 15 kills and 15 digs for the Seahawks while Sasha Wilkinis had 13 kills and 20 digs

In the second matchup of the weekend on Sunday afternoon, the Seahawks blanked the X-Women 3-0 winning 25-18, 25-19 and 25-16. Thornton and Kathleen MacDonald each had 7 kills for the X-Women while Thornton had 9 digs. Wilkins again played a strong game for the Seahawks posting 10 kills and 12 digs.

The 3-13 X-Women will be home again this weekend for two matches. Friday evening at 6:00 pm they will host the Universite de Moncton (10-5) at 6:00 pm at the Oland Centre, and on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm, they’ll host the first place UNB Varsity Reds (12-5). The X-Women currently sit in 7th place overall, just two points behind sixth place Dalhousie.
