X-Women serving up a cure for cancer

Jan 7, 2008 - The StFX Department of Athletics and the volleyball X-Women are pleased to announce they will be hosting a fundraising event in support of breast cancer research at their upcoming game this Sunday, January 13 against Cape Breton University.\r\n\r\nX-Women second year head coach Michelle Aucoin is proud to be hosting the event, following on the heels of the X-Women basketball team who also hosted a fundraiser in support of breast cancer research at one of their first term games. "We are looking forward to the event and also to a great match against Cape Breton," comments Aucoin. "Our team has been directly affected by breast cancer and hosting this fundraiser is very important to us. Cape Breton head coach Claude Lapre is also very supportive and we are appreciative of the Caper team for that, and are very much looking forward to this Sunday afternoon�۪s match."\r\n\r\nThe ���Serve Up a Cure�۪ event is scheduled for 3pm on Sunday, Jan. 13 when the Cape Breton Capers travel to the StFX Oland Centre in Antigonish to play the X-Women in regular season AUS competition. The X-Women Booster Club will be circulating throughout the stands before, during, and following the game to accept donations and to sell bracelets and bows in support of breast cancer research. Attendees at the game will also have the chance to purchase 50/50 tickets, pink X-Women volleyball T-shirts and participate in a serving contest in between games, with all proceeds raised being donated to the St. Martha�۪s Hospital Cancer Resource Room. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
