X-Women drop 2 on the road

Nov 5, 2007 - The X-Women opened up their 2007-2008 regular season play this past weekend as they traveled to New Brunswick to match up with the perennial league leaders in UNB and University of Moncton. The X-Women were not able to pull out a win, but they certainly proved their ability to be competitive with the top teams in the league ��� consistency will be the key to future success.\r\n\r\nFriday X vs UNB (3-0 loss)\r\nJenna Singer led the way for the X-Women, quarterbacking her team from the setting position. Jenna had 2 kills and compiled 30 assists. Offensively, a pair of rookies led the way in the loss with Catherine Thornton acquiring 8 kills and 1 block and Kathleen MacDonald chipped in with 8 kills.\r\n\r\nSaturday vs Moncton (3-0 loss)\r\n4th year left side Laura Machowski led the way for the X-Women with her consistent play accumulating 12 kills (46% attacking efficiency) 5 digs and serve received 2.4 out of a possible 3. Catherine Thornton chipped in with 6 kills and 8 digs. Rookie Megan Pothier stepped into the Libero position and contributed 11 digs in the losing effort.\r\n\r\nThe X-Women hit the court this coming weekend with their home opener Friday night (Nov 9) 7:00 versus last year's AUS finalist ��� Acadia Axewomen, at the Oland Centre, then we hit the road on Saturday as we head to PEI.
