(HALIFAX, N.S.) Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2025 women's soccer all-stars and major award winners, as selected by the conference's 10 head coaches following regular season play.
Memorial forward Zoë Rowe of Conception Bay South, N.L., has been named the AUS most valuable player.
STFX's Avril Jamieson of Calgary, Alta., is this season's AUS rookie of the year, while Acadia's Leah Adams from Truro, N.S., is the recipient of the 2025 AUS student-athlete community service award.
In her 10th season leading the Dalhousie Tigers program, Coach Cindy Tye has been chosen by her peers as the AUS coach of the year for the second time in her career.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Zoë Rowe, Memorial Sea-Hawks
Zoë Rowe, a fifth-year forward with the Memorial Sea-Hawks, has been named the Atlantic University Sport women's soccer most valuable player.
A medical student from Conception Bay South, N.L., Rowe finished the season as the AUS scoring champion with13 goals in 12 games played. She also led the conference in game-winning goals this season with five, and in shots (40).
The Sea-Hawks finished the regular season with a 7-3-2 record, earning a fourth-place finish in the conference standings.
Rowe set a new Memorial school record this season in a Sept. 7 win over UPEI when she scored five goals in a single game.
She wraps up her final season with 41 career goals—the second-most in Sea-Hawks program history.
In addition to being named the conference's top player, Rowe was also named an AUS first-team all-star for the third consecutive season today.
Last season, she was named a U SPORTS first team all-Canadian, and in 2023, she earned the AUS student-athlete community service award.
She will now represent the Atlantic conference as the league's nominee for the Chantal Navert Memorial Award as the U SPORTS player of the year. Only three Atlantic conference nominees have won the national award: Cape Breton's Alliyah Rowe (2024), UPEI's Amy Connolly (2005) and Cape Breton's Sarah Drake (2002).
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Avril Jamieson, STFX X-Women
A first-year forward with the STFX X-Women, Avril Jamieson has been named the 2025 AUS women's soccer rookie of the year.
This marks the first time since 2009 that a player from STFX women's soccer has been named the conference's top rookie.
A science student from Calgary, Alta., Jamieson started in all 12 regular season games for the X-Women. She led the team in scoring with six goals, and in points, with eight.
In addition to being named the AUS's top rookie, Jamieson was also named an AUS second team all-star today.
She will now represent the AUS as the conference's nominee for the U SPORTS rookie of the year. The most recent Atlantic conference player to take home the national award was former CAPERS standout Alliyah Rowe who earned the honour in 2019.
STUDENT-ATHLETE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD: Leah Adams, Acadia Axewomen
Leah Adams from the Acadia Axewomen has been selected as the 2025 recipient of the AUS student-athlete community service award.
A fifth-year defender from Truro, N.S., Adams started and played 90 minutes in all 12 games for Acadia this season.
She was named player of the game in a 4-0 win over Moncton on Sept. 12 in which she scored two goals.
Adams was also named an AUS first team all-star today, marking her third consecutive season as an AUS all-star. She earned AUS second team all-star nods in both 2024 and 2023.
As successful in the classroom as she has been on the field, Adams is a five-time U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian. She completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology, followed by a Bachelor of Education, and is currently completing graduate courses.
Adams has made an extraordinary impact on the Acadia and Wolfville communities through her extensive volunteerism and leadership. She has dedicated countless hours to programs such as KinderSkills, AWAKE, and SMILE, mentoring children and youth of all abilities through inclusive physical activity and sport.
Beyond campus, she has coached multiple community teams, supported adaptive sport programs, and organized major fundraisers like a Soccer Baseball Tournament that raised $4,800 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
"Of the over 2,000 students I have taught and hundreds of athletes I have coached over the past 23 years, Leah is without question the most extraordinary, kind, giving, modest, and well-rounded student I have ever taught or coached," said long-time women's soccer assistant coach and Acadia Kinesiology professor Scott Landry.
Adams now becomes the Atlantic conference nominee for the U SPORTS student-athlete community service award. The last AUS nominee to take home the national honour was Memorial's Kate Hickey who earned the U SPORTS award in 2022.
COACH OF THE YEAR: Cindy Tye, Dalhousie Tigers
Dalhousie Tigers head coach Cindy Tye has been selected by her peers as the AUS women's soccer coach of the year for the second time in her career. She first earned the honour in 2022.
Now in her 10th season at the helm of the Tigers program, Tye led Dalhousie to an impressive 10-1-1 record, a first-place finish in the regular season standings, and a first-round playoff bye to the championship semifinals.
Under her leadership, the Tigers topped the conference in shots (156) and shots on goal (124), while tying for first in both goals (27) and shutouts (8).
In addition to her coaching role, Tye serves as Dalhousie's Director of Athletics and Recreation. She is also a National B-level coach with a long history of success at local, provincial, national and international levels.
Most recently, she led Canada's U-20 women's national team to the 2025 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship title—Canada's first in 17 years.
Tye now becomes the Atlantic conference nominee for the U SPORTS Coach of the Year award. The most recent AUS coach to earn the national honour was STFX head coach Graham Kennedy in 2023.
