Getting to Know...Alix Bruch

X-Women soccer center midfielder Alix Bruch is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Alix recently completed her third year with the X-Women and is a Science student from Calgary, Alta.

What brought you to StFX? 
I had an interesting journey (for lack of a better word) in choosing a post secondary school. Originally I was set to go to the States and play soccer, but I woke up one day and decided that it wasn't for me! It is really important to me to get a great education, so I put academics first. I checked out a few schools but nothing compared to StFX after I came for a visit. I was sold! Soccer has been the icing on the cake and I couldn't be happier that I chose StFX.

What has been your best moment in a StFX uniform so far? 
So far I would have to say the first goal I scored for X. It was first year against Acadia, a volley from the 35-yard line. I just remember being so stunned I didn't know what to do!
 
One thing I cannot live without is…? 
The mountains

If I could have super-hero powers I would…? 
Tough call, but I'd like to be able to make food appear on command. I don't like cooking, and never seem to have time to do a good job of it.

My biggest pet peeve is…? 
Any small repetitive noise. Such as water dripping, heavy breathing, gum chewing…yikes.

My dream vacation destination is…? 
Iceland or Nepal

My dream job is…? 
Living by volcanoes to study and monitor their behaviour (volcanologist). I really want to roast a marshmallow on one.

Tell us one thing that fans may not know about you?
I am a total dork. i.e. I was really into Star Trek growing up (still love it) and I still have a binder full of my pokemon cards.
