The Ottawa Gee-Gees opened the CIS women’s rugby championship with a 29-7 quarter-final win over the defending Monilex Trophy champion StFX X-Women on Thursday afternoon at Nixon Field.
The CIS ranked No. 6 X-Women rugby team (4-1) defeated the Saint Mary’s Huskies (0-5) by a 66-5 score in AUS rugby action Tuesday evening at Huskies Stadium.
The X-Women rugby team played a pair of exhibition games Thursday night and handily defeated their opponents. The first game featured a 58-5 victory over John Abbott College, then the CIS ranked No. 6 X-Women squad followed up with a 61-5 win over McGill.
