Sackville, NS – The X-Women skated to a commanding 7-3 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday night, their second win over the Mounties in as many days.
Player of the game Claire Carruthers scored two goals and had an assist, while Tea Pearce also collected three points on the night with a goal and two assists.
The X-Women got out to an impressive 5-0 lead after the first period. Laci Boyd got things going with an unassisted marker just 1:21 into the game.
The Blue and White then fired off consecutive goals from Lainey Joyce and Bree MacPherson – both on the power play – followed by Toby Graham and Pearce shorthanded.
Island Bernard-Docker scored the only goal of the second period, getting the Mounties on the board with a power play goal at 14:33.
Carruthers scored her first goal of the game early in the third period after Pearce picked off a loose puck and fed her at the top of the slot.
The Mounties got a pair back from Hailey Simoneau and Dallis Mackenzie but could not overcome the large deficit the X-Women had built up.
Carruthers rounded out the X scoring with an unassisted goal late in the game.
The X-Women outshot the Mounties 41-23 as Bianca Zak picked up the win in the STXF net.
The X-Women will be back on the ice Friday, October 24th when they travel to Moncton for a 7:00 pm game against the Aigles Bleues.
