ANTIGONISH, NS - The STFX X-Women hockey team picked up their second win in under 24 hours with a slick 3-1 victory over the Moncton Aigles Bleues on Saturday afternoon at the Charles V Keating Centre.
Gabriel Pizza Player of the game Isabella Mariano opened the scoring halfway through the first period, picking up a pass from Laci Boyd, skating to the net and tucking one in for the second goal of her rookie campaign.
Third star on the night Kameryn Lahey made it 2-0 late in the second period, roofing a backhand rebound chance from Alexis Perry.
Valerie Hache got one back for Moncton on the powerplay 10 minutes into the third, but Toby Graham responded for X just over a minute later, tipping in a Tarryn Mozes shot from the point whiel on the power play.
Annick Boudreau had 31 saves on the night for Moncton, while second star on the night Bianca Zak made 21 stops for the win in the X net.
The X-Women continue their home stand next weekend with a matchup against the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday, October 17.
