Erin Brophy of the CIS No. 6-ranked StFX X-Women’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 6, 2013.
Brophy, a fourth-year forward from Antigonish, N.S., tallied five points in two wins this past weekend for the first place X-Women.
In Saturday’s 2-1 win over the Moncton Aigles Bleues, she scored the first goal of the game and assisted on the game-winner, earning Subway player of the game honours. Erin followed that performance by scoring one goal and adding two assists in StFX’s 6-1 win over the CIS No. 10-ranked St. Thomas Tommies on Sunday.
After returning to the lineup from an injury, Erin is currently tied for third overall in AUS scoring with 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) in just eight games played.
With the victories, the X-Women improve to 15-1-0 on the season.

Lucas Bloodoff of the CIS No. 7-ranked Saint Mary’s Huskies men’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 6, 2013.
Bloodoff, a third-year forward from Castlegar, B.C., scored five points in two games to lead the Huskies to a pair of important home wins this past weekend over the St. Thomas Tommies and Moncton Aigles Bleus.
In Friday’s 7-1 win over the Tommies, Bloodoff netted two goals and an assist as the Huskies leaped past the Acadia Axemen and into second place in the AUS standings. In Saturday night’s 6-2 win over the previously Moncton Aigles Bleus, Lucas added two more goals to finish the weekend with four goals and an assist.
Bloodoff currently leads the Atlantic conference in scoring with 28 points in 18 games, and is tied for the overall lead in CIS scoring. His 15 goals scored also leads the country.
With the two wins, Saint Mary’s improved to 13-4-1 on the season and are now just one point behind the first place UNB Varsity Reds in the AUS standings.
