X-Women Win in Overtime
CIS No. 3 ranked X-Women won 3-2 against the Dalhousie Tigers in an exciting AUS regular season game this past Wednesday on home ice. The game went into overtime where a quick goal by Erin Brophy sealed the deal for StFX.
The first period of play against Dalhousie was scoreless. Both net minders held their own with StFX firing 18 shots and the Tigers 13.
In the second period Dalhousie took the lead with a goal by Robin Mullen (10:41). StFX’s Janelle Parent (13:32), assisted by Suzanne Fenerty and Marilynn Hay, scored a power play goal to tie the game. Dalhousie then responded with a goal by Fieldong Montgomery (14:45) to take a 2-1 lead.
In the third period of play X-Women’s Erin Brophy (12:46), assisted by Jenna Downey, scored StFX’s second goal to once again tie the game and send it to overtime. Erin Brophy (00:22), with her second goal of the night, fired a quick goal past net minder Ashley Boutlier to take the game. Final score of the game was StFX 3, Dalhousie 2.
Final shots in the game were 46-22 in favor of the X-Women. Kristy Garrow picked up the win in nets, while Ashley Boutlier was tagged with the loss for Dalhousie.
X-Women next see action this Friday November 26, 7pm at home and Saturday November 27, 3pm at home.
