X-Women win in overtime
Saturday afternoon the CIS No. 3 ranked StFX X-Women travelled to Dalhousie where they defeated the Tigers 4-3 in overtime. Currently the X-Women are ranked No. 1 in AUS standings with a 5-0 record.
In the first period Dalhousie took the lead 1-0 with a power play goal by Robin Mullen (10:13).
Second period the X-Women reponded with two goals to take the lead 2-1. Suzanne Fenerty (7:13) with a power play goal assisted by Marilynn Hay put StFX on the score board. Erin Brophy then fired an unassisted shot past Tigers net minder Ashley Boutlier.
Dalhousie's Laura Shearer (11:00 and 15:31) nets two goals for the Tigers, one being a power play goal, to take the 3-2 lead in the third period. StFX's Janelle Parent (19:10), assisted by Jenna Pitts and Alex Normore, tied the game 3-3 with less then a minute left in play putting the game into overtime.
Overtime didnt last long with Erin Brophy (1:54) firing a quick shot to end the game with a final score of 4-3. This was Brophy's second unassisted goal of the game.
Total shots on net were StFX 50, Dalhousie 25. StFX's Kristy Garrow takes the win in nets while Ashley Boutlier is tagged with the loss.
X-Women next see action on the road Nov. 12 against UPEI at 7:00 pm and Nov. 3 against MtA at 6:15 pm.
