X-Women Continue Winning Streak
CIS No. 3 ranked X-Women won two games this past weekend on home ice. Friday night StFX defeated UPEI Panthers 4-0 and won 3-2 against
In the first period of play against the UPEI Panthers, X-Women’s Janelle Parent (2:45), on the power play, got a shot past the goal line to take an early lead. Assist went to Alex Normore and Nicole Hansom.
Second period of play Alex Normore (14:38), assisted by Parent and Marilynn Hay, scored StFX’s second goal of the night.
In the third period X-Women’s Molly MacDonald (5:44) fires one past UPEI’s net minder Kristy Dobson to extend the lead 3-0 in StFX’s favor. Jenna Pitts and Parent with the assist. Catie Gavin (17:12) then scored X-Women’s forth and final goal of the game to make the final score 4-0. Carolyn Campbell and Erin Brophy with the assist.
Final shots in the game were 35-18 in favor of the X-Women. Kristy Garrow picked up the shutout win in nets for StFX, while Dobson was tagged with the loss for UPEI.
Saturday St. Thomas took an early lead in the first period with a goal by Amy Kelbaugh (4:24). StFX’s Leah Boucher (6:10) responded with a goal to tie the game. Shannon Crezel and Jenna Pitts with the assist. On the power play X-Women’s Erin Brophy (18:22), assisted by Suzanne Fenerty and Catie Gavin, scored to take the lead 2-1 at the end of the first.
In the second period StFX’s Nicole Hansom gets one between the bars on the power play to bring the score to 3-1. Marilynn Hay and Alex Normore with the assist.
In the third period of play the two teams battle to a scoreless period. Final score of the game was 3-2 for StFX.
Shots on net were 42-20 in X-Women’s favor. Katie Greenway picked up the win in nets for StFX while Kristin Wolfe was tagged with the loss.
