Basketball X-Women 3-0 at Moncton tourney

The StFX X-Women basketball team posted a perfect 3-0 record at the Don Grant Classic 2012 in Moncton over the weekend as they wrapped up pre-season exhibition play.

Sunday afternoon, the X-Women scored an 81-74 victory over the rival Cape Breton University Capers. Lia St. Pierre led with 26 points, and also contributed 12 assists and 7 rebounds. Kolbi Roper scored 18 for the blue and white.

Saturday evening, the blue and white played the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics and dominated, earning an 84-30 victory.
St. Pierre led the X-Women with 15 points, while Kiley DeLong and Roper contributed double digits with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Friday night, the blue and white opened the tournament with a 72-57 win over Bishop’s.

Lia St. Pierre led the X-Women with 14 points, while Lindsay Lessard and Jocelyn Moore chipped in 13 apiece.

The X-Women capped off a 6-0 record in pre-season exhibition play. They will return to action when they start the AUS regular season Saturday, Nov. 10, versus the Saint Mary’s Huskies in Halifax.

The home opener for the X-Women is set for Saturday, Nov. 17, when they host the UPEI Panthers. Game time is 6 p.m. at Oland Centre.
