Basketball X-Women 3-0 at Miramichi Invitational

The StFX X-Women basketball team opened pre-season exhibition play with a tournament win at the Miramichi ‘Hoops on the River’ showcase this past weekend in New Brunswick, posting a 3-0 record.
Sunday, the blue and white wrapped up the tournament with a 76-67 win over Vanier College. Lia St. Pierre led the X-Women with 23 points.
Rebecca Sheehan and Jocelyn Moore also hit double digits with 11 points apiece. Lindsay Lessard was named player of the game for StFX.
The X-Women opened the tournament Friday with a 70-52 victory over the CIS All-Stars. Lessard, who was named game MVP, led the StFX attack with 13 points. St. Pierre, Moore and Sheehan chipped in nine points each.
Saturday, the X-Women defeated the St. Thomas Tommies 79-62. Second-year forward Kolbi Roper led StFX with 22 points. Lessard, with 15, and Sheehan (14), also hit double figures for the X-Women. Roper was named player of the game.
The X-Women return to exhibition action October 26 to 28 at the Moncton Don Grant Classic, where they will tip-off against Bishop’s, Mount Saint Vincent and Cape Breton.
