X-Women Win 2 in UPEI
The StFX X-Women went 2-0 on the weekend against the PEI Panthers boosting their record to 4-1 and putting them at the top of the standings. Saturday night the defeated the Panthers 85-50 and Sunday afternoon X-Women won 75-47.
Saturday night’s game was huge for the X-Women as they defeated the Panthers 85-50 in front of the PEI faithful. Ashley Stephen led the way for the X-Women with 21 points and five rebounds while Donisha Young was the next highest scorer for X with 15 points.
The X-Women continued to show their impressive defensive abilities, holding the Panthers to just 50 points through four quarters including three quarters that saw PEI score 11 points or less.
In the second game of a double-dip in PEI the X-Women held the Panthers to under 50 points and they won convincingly 75-47.
Perhaps the stat line of the year so far went to Tory Anderson who pulled off nine points, eight steals, seven assists and five rebounds, leading an all around attack by the X-Women. Camesha Mackenzie was the leading scorer for the X-Women with 13, while Antigonish native Sheryl Chisholm was the next highest scorer with 12.
Over a two game span the X-Women held the Panthers to fewer than 100 total points, four quarters with 11 or less points including a seven point third quarter in Sunday’s game, and scored 75+ points in both games.
