Sackville, NB – The STFX X-Men earned a lopsided 7-0 victory over the winless Mount Allison Mounties Saturday evening.
The win improves the U SPORTS No. 3 ranked STFX X-Men's record to 5-1-1 on the season as they currently sit tied with Moncton atop the AUS standings.
Seven different X-Men hit the scoresheet in the game.
Max Cameron started things off with an unassisted marker in the 19th minute, depositing a loose ball after bouncing around in the box after an X corner kick.
Samuel Barrowcliffe scored an unassuming goal in the 25th minute after he corralled the ball after a throw in.
In the 31st minute Isaac VanWychen headed in the ball off a Noah MacIntyre corner kick to put the X-Men up 3-0.
Logan Rieck then drilled a low ball through in the 38th minute to round out the first half scoring, giving X a 4-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, freshman midfielder John Kandinda scored in the 51st minute, deking his way through the Mounties players and delivering a solid strike on goal.
The X-Men finished off the game with a pair of penalty kick goals from Kyle Cordeiro and Luka Robichaud Allah.
Barrowcliffe received player of the game honors for his strong play.
Sam Diltz earned the shutout win in the STFX net, though he was only tested with one save in the game.
The X-Men will be back in action on Sunday, September 28th when they travel to Moncton for a 3:30 pm game against the Aigles Bleus in a battle for first place.
