Jr. X-Men announce identification sessions
ANTIGONISH, NS – The Jr. X-Men spring hockey program is pleased to announce details for the identification sessions for their 2013 elite teams. These sessions are open to anyone interested in trying out for their respective age group.
The dates and times for each group are as follows. All sessions will be held at the Charles V. Keating Centre on the campus of StFX University in Antigonish, NS.
2003 (Atom Minor) – Wednesday, December 19th, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
2004 (Novice Major) – Friday, December 21st, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
2005 (Novice Minor) – Thursday, December 20th, 5:30 – 7:30pm
The coaching staff for the elite teams is as follows.
2003 – Head Coach Dave Stewart, StFX X-Men hockey assistant coach
2004 – Head Coach Jerome Stewart, StFX power skating school instructor
2005 – Head Coach Brad Peddle, StFX X-Men hockey head coach
StFX X-Men hockey assistant coach Erin King and current X-Men players will also be assisting each of these coaches with their respective teams.
Each of these elite spring programs will last eight weeks, through April and May. Three weekends will consist of tournament play, including one tournament hosted by the Jr. X-Men. The other two weekends will be out-of-town tournaments.
When not playing in tournaments, each of the elite teams will have a minimum of 15 hours of practice time over the remaining five weeks. Each team’s respective coach may add in additional practice times, and each team will also take part in an off-ice workout program, including the use of a new hockey workout facility on StFX campus.
