Varsity Reds Defeat X-Men

CIS No. 7 ranked X-Men hockey was defeated by UNB Varsity Reds 2-1 this past Friday night at the Charles V. Keating Centre in exciting AUS hockey action.

In the first period the Varsity Reds Lachlan MacIntosh (00:56) fired in a quick goal to take an early lead for UNB. Nick MacNeil (10:12) scored UNB’s second goal to the a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.

The second period was a scoreless period with both teams enjoying a seat in the penalty box for most of the period.

X-Men’s Chris Hulit (17:54), assisted by Spencer McAvoy and Brett Morrison, sneaks in a power play goal to put StFX on the board and bring the game to its final score UNB 2 StFX 1.

Final shots on net were 33-20 in StFX’s favor. X-Men’s Joseph Perricone was tagged with the loss while Varsity Reds Derek Yeomans was awarded the win.
