Rainmen sign Christian 'T-Bear' Upshaw
The Halifax Rainmen are extremely pleased to announce the signing of Halifax basketball star Christian “T-Bear” Upshaw.
“I finally get to live a dream I’ve been dreaming for a long time,” said Upshaw. “To play professionally in my home town is beyond what I’ve ever imagined. It means so much to me to be able to play at this level in front of the people who have been there for me from the beginning, and will hopefully be there until the end. I hope to make Halifax proud this season.”
A favourite in the local basketball community, Upshaw spent three years as a standout player for Saint Patrick’s High School where he won three provincial championships. He also spent five years on St. Francis Xavier University’s roster where he earned the back-to-back title of Atlantic University Sport MVP in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010.
“Christian is a player that I’ve been watching since his first year at StFx,” said Halifax Rainmen President & CEO, Andre Levingston. “He has worked extremely hard throughout our training camp and has truly earned his position on our roster. I’m extremely confident that he will be seeing a fair amount of floor time this season, and that within a few years he will develop into one of the top guards in our league.”
