Alex Fedchun selected by Ottawa in CFL draft

Fifth year veteran defensive lineman Alex Fedchun was selected 55th overall in the Canadian Football League (CFL) draft Tuesday evening. The 6’5”, 245-pound X-Men co-captain from Calgary, Alta. was selected by Ottawa as the first pick of the seventh round. Fedchun was the sole X-Men athlete drafted and one of nine AUS athletes and 57 total U SPORTS athletes.

Four STFX X-Men football student-athletes have been invited to attend the CFL Invitational Combine presented by New Era taking place on March 3 in Waterloo, Ont., including Dyton Blackett, Zakariya Karim, Ethan Mastin and Chris Verheyen. Teammate Alex Fedchun has been invited to the national CFL Combine presented by New Era in Edmonton from March 22 to 26.
