Fagnan, Martin & Capriotti earn first X-Men Football athlete of the week honours
Quarterback Silas Fagnan, defensive back Brandyn Martin and kicker/punter Max Capriotti were named the Pita Pit X-Men Football athletes of the week for the week ending Sept. 19, 2021.
Pita Pit X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men quarterback Silas Fagnan was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 19, 2021. Silas, a third year Business student from Bonnyville, AB received player of the game honours in the X-Men's 33-23 win over SMU on Friday night. He was 22-34 for 312 total yards and threw two touchdown passes from 21 and 45 yards out. Silas also scored on a one-yard TD carry in the 3rd quarter and had seven total carries for 23 yards in the game.
Pita Pit X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men defensive back Brandyn Martin was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 19, 2021. Brandyn, a fourth year Science student from Chilliwack, BC led the X-Men in tacking Friday night in their 33-23 victory over SMU. Brandyn had six solo and three assisted tackles on the night and also recorded a pair of sacks for a loss of 15 yards. He had one interception and a forced fumble on defense as well.
Pita Pit X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men kicker/punter Max Capriotti was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 19, 2021. Max, a third year Human Kinetics student from Mount Hope scored 15 points in the X-Men's 33-23 victory over SMU on Friday. In addition to kicking a trio of extra points after TD's, Max booted four field goals in the game from distances of 13, 42, 34 and 11 yards out. He also handled the X-Men punting duties, kicking 10 for 385 yards. His punting average of 38.5 yards/kick in the game also saw him with two punts inside the 20 and a long punt of 52 yards.
