Dickson, Hubbeard & Rajotte named football athletes of the week after week two
X-Men running back Ashton Dickson was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 16, 2012 for the second consecutive week. Ashton, a second year Arts student from Ottawa, scored two touchdowns in a losing effort for the X-Men as they fell 41-20 to Concordia on Saturday. Ashton’s majors were a three yard run and four yard run, as he netted 96 yards on the ground on 24 carries, the top rusher in the game. He earned player of the game honors for the X-Men.
X-Men football linebacker Brett Hubbeard was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 16, 2012. Brett, a fourth year Arts student from Peterborough, Ont., played well defensively for the X-Men in their recent 41-20 loss to Concordia. He had six tackles (5 solo, 2 assisted) in the game and was also in on two tackles for a loss of yards, including one QB sack.
X-Men defensive back Hugo Rajotte was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 16, 2012. Hugo, a 3rd year Arts student from Markham, Ont., played a strong game on the X-Men’s various coverage units throughout the game, despite being on the end of a 41-20 loss to Concordia this past Saturday. He also recorded 7 solo and 2 assisted tackles in the game, including one tackle for a loss.
