Harvey and Williams named Boston Pizza Athletes of the Week

X-Women rugby fullback Magali Harvey was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 9, 2012. Magali, a third year Arts student in her fourth year eligibility, from Quebec City, scored an impressive 46 points in the X-Women’s dominating 101-0 victory over Saint Mary’s on Sunday afternoon. She scored 2 tries and booted 12 converts in the game for the X-Women. Her 46 points broke the AUS record for most points scored in a single game (35), and her 12 converts broke her own AUS record for most converts scored in a single game (10) set last year. Magali is a two-time CIS All-Canadian and former AUS rookie of the year.

X-Men football returner/receiver Damone Williams was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 9, 2012. Damone, a second year Arts student from Mississauga, ON, scored two touchdowns in the X-Men’s recent 51-5 win over Mount Allison Friday night. After scoring a 55 yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, Damone then recovered a MtA fumble and returned it for a 15 yard touchdown, giving the X-Men a secure 34-5 lead at that point in the game. He tallied 104 total yards on punt return with 7 returns and also had 74 receiving yards.
