Hickey, Hubbeard & Stevens latest X-Men football athletes of the week

X-Men quarterback/running back Andrew Hickey was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, 2011. Andrew, a first year Education student from Fredericton, NB, scored two touchdowns in the X-Men’s recent loss to Acadia. Andrew had a 9 yd TD run in the 2nd quarter and a 6 yd run in the 4th quarter. He also recorded 5 carries for 34 yards and had 2 receptions for 43 yards.

X-Men football linebacker Brett Hubbeard was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 23, 2011. Brett, a second year Arts student from Peterborough, ON, continues his strong defensive play for the X-Men. In Saturday’s loss to Acadia he recorded 4 solo and 3 assisted tackles in the game and also was in on 2 tackles for a loss of yards, as well as a fumble recovery.

X-Men fullback Jerome Stevens was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, 2011. Jerome, a second year Arts student from Ottawa, ON, plays on every special team for the X-Men and continues to play well. In Saturday’s recent loss to Acadia he recorded 2 solo and 1 assisted tackles and played a strong game in all special teams areas.
