Quarterback Jack Creighton of the #8-ranked Saint Mary’s Huskies is the Atlantic University Sport Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 4th, 2009. Jack, a second year student from Buffalo, NY, completed 24-of-33 pass attempts for 438 yards and three touchdowns in SMU’s 47-18 win over the Mount Allison Mounties Friday night in Halifax. Creighton also added 12 yards on one run for a total of 450 yards of offense on the day. His three touchdown passes covered 25, 23 and 6 yards respectively and his 438 yards through the air tied him with former Acadia pivot Larry Jusdanis for the seventh highest single-game total in AUS history. Jack has thrown for 1219 yards in four games this season, averaging 304.8 yards per game.

StFX X-Men defensive back Dylan Hollohan is the Atlantic University Sport Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 4th, 2009. Dylan, a second year Engineering student from Moncton, NB was named the Subway Player of the Game in the #6-ranked X-Men’s 60-7 homecoming win over the Acadia Axemen this past weekend in Antigonish, NS. Hollohan had a pair of key interceptions in the game for StFX, including one he returned 35 yards for a major in the first quarter. His second interception resulted in a 44-yard return. Dylan also forced an Acadia fumble that led to a touchdown drive on the X-Men’s next possession and he had two tackles in the game.

Justin Palardy of the #8-ranked Saint Mary’s Huskies is the is the Atlantic University Sport Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending October 4th, 2009. Palardy, named the AUS and CIS Special Teams Player of the Week two weeks ago, continued his attack on the Atlantic conference record book this week, nailing all four of his field goal attempts in a 47-18 win over the Mount Allison Mounties. Justin, who currently leads the league in scoring with 54 points, also converted all five PAT’s to account for 17 points in the victory. He has now made ten consecutive field goals and is 14-of-16 overall this season. Palardy, in his fourth year of eligibility with the Huskies, is now tied with former StFX kicker Jadran Mlinarevic for the conference record in career field goals made with 56. He also established a new mark for career PAT’s with 101, passing former Acadia kicker William Godfrey, who set the previous record of 100 from 1992-96. Already the Saint Mary’s career leader with 278 career points, he currently sits in third place on the AUS career scoring list behind Acadia’s Bob Stracina (293 points) and StFX’s Paul Brule (306 points).
