Football Players of the Week Announced
X-Men running back James Green, linebacker Henoc Muamba and wide receiver Curtis Cammaert received X-Men Football Player of Week honors for the wek ending Oct. 5, 2008.
James Green was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the 5th consecutive week. James, a fourth year Arts student from Halifax, NS led all rushers Saturday afternoon with 188 net yards in the X-Men’s disappointing 32-26 loss to SMU. He also scored two touchdowns in the first half and currently leads the AUS in rushing TD’s with 6, along with leading in total yards with 721 and yards/game with 144.2.
Henoc Muamba was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 5, 2008 for the 4th time this year. Henoc, a second year Information Systems student from Kinshasa, Congo continues his strong defensive play for the X-Men. In Saturday’s 32-26 loss the SMU, he had 4.5 tackles (2 solo and 5 assisted), along with a sack, fumble recovery and an interception which he returned for 8 yards.
Curtis Cammaert was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 5, 2008 for the second time this season. Curtis, a fourth year Arts student from London, ON played consistently for the X-Men on kick return this past Saturday in their disappointing 32-26 loss to SMU. He had 5 kick returns for a total of 84 yards and is currently averaging 17.8 yards/game.
