The X Athletes for Charity Event is an annual event hosted by the StFX Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) in an effort to raise funds for local charities. This multi-sport event is held at the conclusion of the varsity season in late March/early April and is completely student-led and organized. Student-athletes from all StFX teams host various sporting events and fun activities and local children are invited and encouraged to join the athletes and participate! The evening also involves a 'Meet and Greet' the atheltes, photo opps and an autograph session where local youth are invited to meet their favorite X-Men and X-Women athletes.
The 2019 event is scheduled for Friday, March 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the StFX Oland Centre main gymnasium, with all proceeds being donated to local charities.
Proceeds from the ticket sales, canteen and bake sales profits are donated to the SAAC charity of choice through the Early X-cellence Fund. The goal of the Early X-cellence fund is to provide sporting opportunities for local youth and to assist with sporting and youth-related charitable initiatives.
